Marble Canyon / Haffner Creek

Dist: 6.1km    Elev: 130m    Time: 3h    Difficulty: 1/5

After a 14 month hiatus the "Counsellor Bros (minus Elliot)" reunited for another adventure. Brad was in charge of planning our route this time and decided to take us on a tour of Marble Canyon and Haffner Creek, two easy objectives along Highway 93S. These spots are quite busy during the summer months but provided interesting scenery in the winter with very few crowds save the ice climbers taking advantage of the frozen waterfalls at both locations. We started by touring the snow covered walking paths of Marble Canyon, then crossed the highway and followed Haffner Creek to another set of hidden frozen falls. We moved at a pretty slow pace for most of the day which permitted much catching up and swapping stories about professional life post-internship when we all first met. Quality time with good friends while exploring the great outdoors - doesn't get much better than that!

First fall. The ice really is this blue!

  2. Thanks for your post. I’ve been thinking about writing a very comparable post over the last couple of weeks, I’ll probably keep it short and sweet and link to this instead if thats cool. Thanks.
