After an (overly?) ambitious trip last summer to Rae Lake, I was relieved to know Lloyd and Marla were still open to hiking with us. This time I decided to take a slightly different approach to the day and chose a laid-back trail promising nice views without too much work. Warspite Lake looked like a beautiful little spot to visit with the option of continuing beyond to increase the "adventure factor" by getting off the beaten path.
The trail followed a pleasant route through forest with occasional views of surrounding peaks. After about an hour we arrived at an interesting boulder field and Warspite Lake shortly after. We then followed a subtle trail counter-clockwise around the lake and ventured into an avalanche plain just beyond. We enjoyed views of the rugged landscape while having lunch, and returned the way we came.
The Black Prince Cirque trail to Warspite Lake is an easily accessible and family-friendly destination for anyone looking to spend a couple hours in the mountains!
